Anne Pesata is Jicarilla Apache from Dulce, New Mexico where she currently lives and works with the Jicarilla Apache Community Health & Fitness Center as a CHR Generalist. She manages two food assistance programs for the community, facilitates the community audiology program, and is available to work with clientele with various health, fitness and nutritional goals. Additionally, she is a core company member in the Indigenous contemporary dance company Dancing Earth of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has been working with them since 2012 and as a result has had the opportunity to tour as a dancer and cultural ambassador to New Zealand, Canada, Norway, and numerous cities around the United States. Her solo piece about being a 5th generation basket weaver has been featured in numerous dance and choreographic festivals and was academically reviewed for the Dance Research Journal in 2016. As a mother of one boy, she has dedicated her life to helping create a positive indigenous community for her son to grow up in.
