Maria Rivera is Southern Ute, Cheyenne and Arapaho, and Kiowa and resides on the Southern Ute Reservation. Currently pursuing her psychology degree in Durango, Co, she plans on being counselor for local Native American youth. She is very passionate about encouraging youth to pursue their dreams, talents, and live a healthy, active lifestyle. Hands on with community she coaches several youth sports which include soccer, middle school volleyball, youth and high school basketball. She strives to be a positive role model and mentor for the youth in the community and lives her life with love and compassion to all things living. She believes if even one child is encouraged to do the same she is successful everything else is the cherry on top.
